NDP joins Let My Vote Count Alliance

The Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’s led National Democratic Party (NDP) has joined pressure group the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA).
The LMVCA, a pressure group is made up of members of some major opposition parties in Ghana who have embarked on a nationwide campaign to rally support for Nana Akuffo Addo and Co in court.
The NDP is convinced that the move by the Alliance could expose what the NPP and its allied bodies have termed electoral injustices that characterized the 2012 general elections.
For this reason, all NDP members nationwide have been instructed to join the Alliance to salvage Ghana’s democracy.
In an interview, a Deputy Communications Director of the NDP, Ernest Owusu Bempah said, “I can say on authority that we have joined the Alliance based on the fact that most of our party’s parliamentary candidates were not treated fairly, most of the votes that they had at the polling station level did not reflect at the national level.â€
He stressed, “The treatment that the Electoral Commission meted out to us as a party and our flag bearer coupled with other issues concerning the 2012 elections informed our decision to join the Alliance; we feel that we need to salvage our democracy, we need to rescue the sovereign will of the Ghanaian people and make sure that the right thing is done to avoid such occurrences in future, we believe the course is a right one and as a party we need to join and let the whole world hear our voice.â€
